My dear friends as we nearly complete this month known for April Showers but the downpour of my tears are filled with a sadness received by the continuous attack on the Jewish Community. Yesterday we finalised my filming for Jewish Cultural Month on combating antisemitism through the arts and the importance of connecting to the wider community, but today the Golders Green stabbing dominated our television screens. Grief and hope are mixed when the few extremists who try to ruin the harmony and peace within our society. Coming from immigrant background we share similarities with other minority groups and understand the relevance of faith, history, and the importance to show humanity to all religions. We must keep strong and positive and not let sorrow dominate - otherwise evil wins. Remember the kindnesses and empathy shown towards us by the many.
On Friday morning, I hopped on a train to Manchester Victoria—early start, slightly groggy, but really excited. There’s something about those quiet morning journeys that just feels full of possibility. I spent the morning at the Manchester Jewish Museum, wrapping up filming for Jewish Cultural Month on how we connect to the wider community and celebrate our diversity. This has been such a meaningful project especially with the support of the Board of Deputies.
The museum loved the extensive footage which is very exciting. Now we need to concentrate on edits so they have the first release. We’re gearing up for the main release on June 10th at St John’s Wood Synagogue. There’ll also be a panel discussion afterwards, which I think is going to be really special. One of those moments where stories, culture, and community all come together in a real way. More details will be shared soon on the Synagogue and Board of Deputies websites… so stay tuned.
Many people ask me what is my life like as an artist. So once a month I decided to write a news letter on main achievements. But the weeks in between are full of activities from creative inspirations, listening to art lecture, reading about new techniques and visiting exhibitions and galleries- just to name a few. So I now have started a Blog Page to fill in the gaps between my Instagram postings.
Starting printing my new A3 etching of life in London Docks- disaster the prints were too pale. So I re oiled my press, changed the blankets, increased the pressure and soaked the paper for longer. Bravo the prints came out stronger but not too bold as the etching represent past life and will be contrasted with the bright colours of modern life today.
